Data Visualization

Tools
  1. Glogster- This tool can be used as an online poster board.  All different types of information can be shared including video, audio and images.  A URL can be created as an easy way to share the poster with others.
  2. Wordle and Tagxedo- These are both "word clouds".  With Tagxedo you can shape words into images that are already in the program or one that choose to upload (school mascot).  With Wordle, the more a word appears, the larger it is in the word cloud.
  3. Popplet- The is a graphic organizer.  I have an iPad so I downloaded this FREE app.  It is very intuitive and easy to use.  You can add pictures, links and text very quickly and create a nice visual representation of an idea or concept.
  Visualization
In this visualization, I am representing ways that I gather information for my job.  I am always trying to stay on top of emerging trends in technology and education and this represents the many ways I gather information.

"Ah-ha Moment"

When I think about the many tools that not only students but teachers can use to represent information, it blows me back a little.  Looking at the wiki, http://freevisualtools.wikispaces.com/ADD+YOUR+OWN+HERE!, I was made aware that there are so many free tools out there.  I think tools like these give students a creative and collaborative way of demonstrating knowledge.  What AWESOME tools!
