Mobile Learning

I am currently a member of Classroom 2.0 and frequent discussions on this site.  I have also created a Twitter account not only for myself, but for my department.  Social networking tools such as these are a great way to stay connected to our teachers as well as a great way to get information from other educators. I have already tweeted out this discussion for my followers.

Here is an example of a question I might ask teachers in my professional development classes.

I think that is a great FREE tool for educators that allows for them to use what they have available in their classrooms.  If they had iPod's or iPads, an app like Socrative would be another option.

In general, mobile technology includes many devices such as cell phones, iPads, tablets and minis.  Schools in NW Ohio have been implementing these types of technologies for many years.  We are at the point now where schools are seriously considering BYOT (bring your own technology) .  From a network standpoint this does become very hard to manage, however it is more cost effective for the schools considering they do  not have to constantly purchase equipment.

Data Visualization

Tools
  1. Glogster- This tool can be used as an online poster board.  All different types of information can be shared including video, audio and images.  A URL can be created as an easy way to share the poster with others.
  2. Wordle and Tagxedo- These are both "word clouds".  With Tagxedo you can shape words into images that are already in the program or one that choose to upload (school mascot).  With Wordle, the more a word appears, the larger it is in the word cloud.
  3. Popplet- The is a graphic organizer.  I have an iPad so I downloaded this FREE app.  It is very intuitive and easy to use.  You can add pictures, links and text very quickly and create a nice visual representation of an idea or concept.
  Visualization
In this visualization, I am representing ways that I gather information for my job.  I am always trying to stay on top of emerging trends in technology and education and this represents the many ways I gather information.

"Ah-ha Moment"

When I think about the many tools that not only students but teachers can use to represent information, it blows me back a little.  Looking at the wiki, http://freevisualtools.wikispaces.com/ADD+YOUR+OWN+HERE!, I was made aware that there are so many free tools out there.  I think tools like these give students a creative and collaborative way of demonstrating knowledge.  What AWESOME tools!

PART C - Implementation CEP 812

Below you will find a link to my Wicked Problem Project audio cast.  I enjoyed this time to reflect on how the project was going thus far and to see where I need to work.  Overall, this has been a wonderful project for the station that I work for and has become a very important piece as we continue to work with educators.

PART B - Storyboard and Script CEP812

Below you will find links to both our StoryBoard and our Script for the Group Leadership Project. After out Brainstorming session, we decided to switch gears and picked Google and Google Hangout as our technology.  Our plan is to set is up in three separate tutorials so that it can be easy to follow for the viewer.  Two of our team members worked on the script and then someone will record and the other edit.  We will meet on a conference to discuss the final project before it is submitted.

So far, we have been moving along pretty good.  We stay in contact via email, Google Hangout and on Google Docs themselves.

Web-Conferencing Reflection

As a group, we decided to record our brainstorming session using Google Hangout-OnAir.  This feature allows for you to broadcast live on YouTube and anyone with the link can view.  Overall, I think this was a very easy tool to use and just took minutes to start.  We have the link unlisted so that only people with the link can access it.  This way we are not all over YouTube. (not that anyone wants to see us anyway)

Here is what it look like broadcasted on YouTube.
