Here is a link to Group 4's brainstorming session. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtZTU97RkEU
The conferencing tool that we used was Google Hangout and it was recorded using Google On Air which uploads to a YouTube Channel.
Professionally, I use Google Hangout a lot. The station that I work for is one of eight EdTech agencies across the state of Ohio, and busy schedules prevent us from meeting face to face as often as we should. Therefore, we meet online once a month via Google Hangout.
During our brainstorming session for Group 4, we decided to try Google Hangout +OnAir out. OnAir means that the session was not only recorded using YouTube but streamed live while we were doing it. Google is pretty cool in that you can "broadcast" live on your own YouTube channel while the hangout is going on. This way, people can view the conversation and comment without having their face or voice on air.
There are a lot of cool features built into Google Hangout such as the ability to share Google Documents as well as chat live during the discussion. We are going to use this technology for our Group Project, so I am sure we will discover many more features it has to offer.
I would not do anything differently next time, as I think the tool is easy to navigate. I use this tool all the time and the best part about it...FREE!!!!
The only disadvantages that I see are that you must have a Google + Account to use Google Hangout and you can't set a meeting in advance. Other than those, I think this is a great tool for the classroom as well as professional use. Talk about a cool way to "Flip" a classroom!
